GARETH PUGH F/W 10

The first jacket ($4,500) is a neoprene with goatskin bonded to the outside.  In this case the neoprene probably gives the leather structure while keeping it lightweight and providing enough stretch for such slim sleeves.  The second ($3,695) is a delectable looking shearling.

Both available at Seven.

TOTALLY FUCKED UP

I watched Totally Fucked up and Doom Generation today.  Someone I know should have told me about these a long time ago instead of letting me find them on my own!!  I've had friends think I'm crazy for having never seen Desperately Seeking Susan.  Okay, that's Madonna - love her - but this is queer cinema and Totally Fucked Up is a must see if you're queer.  Doom Generation is less serious, but pretty amazing if you're into 90's fashion, macabre humor, strange sex scenes.. or if you just want to see Rose McGowan's tits, which are pretty fucking fantastic.  The only other Gregg Araki movie I've seen is Mysterious Skin (amazing), but I definitely want to see the rest of his movies, too.

As for clothes today, I piled on layers.

polo cardigan, stella mccartney x adidas hoodie, ecote cardigan, inhabit cardigan, designer drugs tee, aa tank, kill city jeans, givenchy fall 2008 boots

SACK OF COAL

Just saw this bag by Silent by Damir Doma and fell head over heels in love.  The relaxed shape is perfection and very tricky to find in a market dominated by statement bags.  I definitely love the more sophisticated Nightingales and PS1s out there, but this is a refreshing change of pace and something I would feel comfortable carrying around everyday.  You can find it HERE.

NOSTALGIA

Currently wishing fashion was more exuberant, excessive, carefree and... fun.  It's not that design isn't amazing right now; the talent is present but the energy is missing.  It's frustrating.  And this is coming from a twenty year old who has no experience of "better times".  I can't even imagine how the older crowd feels.

PERFECTO REDUX

Last week I finished this dress I had been working on.  My teacher really didn't understand what I wanted to do.. she kept telling me to put crystals on the hardware, add a sheer panel somewhere, blah blah blah.  Pure and understated clearly are not words in her vocabulary.

A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING

Last Thursday there was a party to announce the winner of a shoe design competition that my classmates and I participated in.  I was one of few among my classmates still sober by the time the winner was announced - thankfully so - because to my surprise I won.  The shoe I designed will be produced and sold which is very very exciting for me considering I hope to pursue shoe design once I graduate.

You can read more about the event HERE.

HETEROSEXY SEQUINZ

I really need to buy a black hat.  I love the sequins, but even I will admit no one needs a solar panel on their head as often as I wear this..

BIG OL' PUSSY

Fat and affectionate is my favorite kind of cat.  I spent probably thirty minutes sitting on a bench with this cutieee.

JACK FROST CAN'T PENETRATE ME

I wore this fur coat in the morning and decided to change into some knit layers when it started raining in the afternoon.  I imagine vintage fur might smell like a dog when it gets wet?  I'd rather not find out.  I'm also 100% more comfortable in basic layers.. fur calls attention to me, and I'm much happier flying under the radar.  Living in Brooklyn for the past two years has definitely influenced how I dress.

G.I. JANE UNDER FIRE

I posted some photos of this earlier when the leggings were incomplete, but I did wind up wearing it both Friday and Saturday night over the weekend.  It's a one piece swimsuit I made for class (with leggings underneath).  I hardly need an excuse to wear something stupid, so Halloween hardly motivates me to make anything truly special.

When I went out Saturday night I was bombarded with eggs while walking to my friend's apartment at ten at night.  One skimmed my head and the rest narrowly missed me.  After they threw the first I stopped and glared at them like, "This isn't funny," but resumed walking when they began shouting "FAGGOT," and throwing more eggs.  This was the exact same block where I had previously had garbage thrown at me - probably by the exact same thugs - so I wound up calling the police.  People need to grow the fuck up.

KATIE GALLAGHER S/S 11

I mentioned in September that I helped backstage at Katie Gallagher's S/S 11 presentation - well, I finally got all the photos from my phone onto my computer.  I don't have mobile internet, so I had to get a memory card for my phone and the right usb cord.. when you're buried in school work like I am things like that fall to the back of the list.

I have also posted better photos of the insane Raphael Young shoes (click here) and some of my favorites from the lookbook (click here).

PRABAL GURUNG
"Androgynous Pratt student documents his outfits that run the gamut from everyday college kid to flamboyant club kid. Anyone who throws on a pair of Balenciaga platforms or 9" fetish stilettos to cheer himself up is pretty awesome and entertaining in our opinion!"

TOPSHOP INSIDE-OUT BLOG
"Dressing up is what William loves to do most. This young designer from New York doesn’t dress for fashion but just to have fun and enjoy himself like the big kid that he is. Both adorned as a man and woman, his blog isn’t your common “check-out-my-outfit” type blog. It’s a journey into NYC’s crazy nightlife with party outfits straight from the young creative/transvestite scene. Juggling Timberland homemade platforms, tie-dye t-shirts, camo baggy trousers and an orange furry jacket, his looks are absolutely bonkers-awesom, leaving us wanting more everytime. We strongly recommend that you check out his collection too . Made from Japanese anime babe-printed fabric, it’s pretty darn cool."

LYNN & HORST
"I strongly believe in the comeback of Manga and will further explore its use in contemporary art and fashion. Most probably, 'sexualization' will become a core motif. In the first instance, I'd like to draw your attention to the reanimation of Anime by Dripping Lazers."
