CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

If you're in New York you know there's not a chance in hell I would be wearing these sandals outside right now (puddles, slush and piles of snow everywhere), but I wanted to cheer myself up so I wore them indoors.

THE BIGGER THE BETTER

Just got this massive motorcycle jacket.  I had been hunting for a vintage moto with a good fit for a long, long time but was just as excited to find something so grossly ill fitting.  The scale of it reminds me of the floor length moto Gaga has by Asher Levine (see it HERE).

This is definitely the throw over anything jacket I've been looking for.  I had gotten very tired of wearing my foofy/delicate/ratty vintage furs so I'm welcoming this indiscrete (and equally warm) change.  I also love how indestructible it feels.

BLACK & WHITE

This is what I wore to work on Friday.  There was a change of shoes involved on my way to and from work - duhhhh, you think I'm crazy??? - and a fur coat, but I don't want to bog down the post with the boring stuff.

A FEW THINGS

From my phone recently:  Liz's Atalanta Weller ankle boots, a beautiful/disgusting ashtray and my weekend in the studio.

SKIN TO SKIN

I'm almost done with a leather jacket I started a few weeks ago.  It began with a rub off from a friend's jacket which I later fitted to myself, changed the seaming and added my own sleeve pattern to.  For the assignment it had to be fully lined which, for leather jackets, is a ton of work.  If this was wool or canvas I would have been done with the jacket by now, but leather is tricky.  There will be a collar, but it's going to be one of the last parts to be sewn - though I'm also liking how this looks collarless.  More pics to come when it's finished next week.

DARK CRYSTAL

I'm still obsessed with these Raphael Youngs.  I tried on a different pair from his F/W 10 collection today and was pretty much running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  Also tried on a slew of yummy wedges (Gareth Pugh, Atalanta Weller and KTZ), but nothing quite compares to the intrigue of Raphael Young's fall collection.  Except those Proenza boots, but I'm trying to put that out of my mind!!

See more of these Raphael Youngs HERE.

More of the same skirt, just different layers on top.  Bag lady to the max, right?

I'M A PLEASER

Today was exhausting!!  I had very little sleep last night after finishing a paper for my Friday morning class (the worst) and left class early to make sure I got to my new internship on time.   It was a long day, but I really enjoyed being in an environment completely unlike all of my other internships.  Also, before working I tried on the Gareth Pugh shearling jacket I posted about a week ago.  It's a very special piece.  His jackets always blow me away when I finally get to see and feel how they fit on my body.  Around nine I went back to Brooklyn and immediately went to my friend's holiday party.  I was falling asleep on the train, but determined to spend my friday night like a normal human being:  by enjoying an entire bottle of sparkling wiiiiine.  Super yummy.  Somehow I felt better and wound up borrowing stripper boots (at least two sizes too large for my feet) for the night which are always strangely comfortable.  I'm determined to buy a pair for myself as soon as I have some spare money.

SOMETHING LIKE CHILDHOOD

Here's the hoodie I mentioned in a post a few days ago.  Since it's cropped (and huge) there are a million way to layer with it so I decided to try it with the leather net I made that I tend to forget about.  I've worn the net with my Jil Sander boots before (here) and it always looks good.. I only wish I hadn't left my black pvc leggings at home because the net would look sick over them.

"Androgynous Pratt student documents his outfits that run the gamut from everyday college kid to flamboyant club kid. Anyone who throws on a pair of Balenciaga platforms or 9" fetish stilettos to cheer himself up is pretty awesome and entertaining in our opinion!"

TOPSHOP INSIDE-OUT BLOG
"Dressing up is what William loves to do most. This young designer from New York doesn’t dress for fashion but just to have fun and enjoy himself like the big kid that he is. Both adorned as a man and woman, his blog isn’t your common “check-out-my-outfit” type blog. It’s a journey into NYC’s crazy nightlife with party outfits straight from the young creative/transvestite scene. Juggling Timberland homemade platforms, tie-dye t-shirts, camo baggy trousers and an orange furry jacket, his looks are absolutely bonkers-awesom, leaving us wanting more everytime. We strongly recommend that you check out his collection too . Made from Japanese anime babe-printed fabric, it’s pretty darn cool."

LYNN & HORST
"I strongly believe in the comeback of Manga and will further explore its use in contemporary art and fashion. Most probably, 'sexualization' will become a core motif. In the first instance, I'd like to draw your attention to the reanimation of Anime by Dripping Lazers."
