BOOBS & FLOWERS

If you've been to Seven this week you probably noticed we replaced the Aitor Throup installation we had for several months.  The new one was designed by Olaf Breuning for Six Scents (check out Six Scents HERE).  The installation itself reminds me of Henry Holland's Smell, one of my two favorite Six Scents perfumes (the other is Henrik Vibskov's Solar Donkey Power).  If you're in New York you should definitely come by and see it in person.

***edit:  Photo below from An Unknown Quantity; see more photos from the event HERE.

Boobs & Flowers was originally shown at the Standard in Miami (read about it HERE) with both the short film below and a pool outside with boobs and flowers floating in it.

NUDE

I wasn't really into these Margiela sunglasses before, but they're pretty fucking amazing in this sea of flesh tone latex Lady Gaga wore earlier this month.

FAMILY REUNION

What I wore Thursday.. and Burberry Prorsum's super yummy F/W 11 creepers.  I loved the creepers Phi did too (last image), but I definitely prefer the bloated wedge silhouette on Burberry's version.

THINGS THAT GO TOGETHER

Two images from my phone last week:  cut and paste brilliance in the subway and posh red bobs at Chanel on Spring St.

IN GODDESS FORM

I really didn't think Gaga could top her 2010 Grammys red carpet look, but this year I'm even more in love.  The moulded leather dress is beyond amazing and those boots.  The media gave her so much shit when she tripped in an airport wearing Noritaka Tatehana mega platforms, but no one ever gives her credit for the other 99% of the time when she's wearing massive shoes and not falling over.  And somehow it took me until now to notice the prosthetics on her forehead, cheeks and shoulders which she has also worn in advertising for her upcoming album and interviews.  Queen of the fucking underworld.

JEAN PIERRE BRAGANZA F/W 11

This is the first season style.com has covered Jean Pierre Braganza's show.  No idea what took them so long to deem his show worthy of coverage, but I'm happy they're finally sharing his work.  I was first introduced to his clothing at Seven two years ago and have been a huge fan ever since.  His jackets are always unreal.. I'm so in love with the layered charcoal jacket and oversized double breasted coat below.

SEE RIGHT THROUGH ME

I just made these mesh paneled leggings earlier tonight.  Threeasfour, Preen and Katie Gallagher do a lot of multi fabric leggings like these that I love so I wanted to make my own pair.  They turned out pretty well considering how roughly I patterned them.  I'll have to get better pics soon, my phone's cam did not do these any justice!

TRANNY BEDTIME STORIES

Today at work my boss asked me to run a few errands down the street.  I pretty much always wear my stripper boots at work, but normally I change out of them if I need to leave the store and walk more than two blocks.  WELL, today I didn't.  I felt confident about walking ten blocks in eight inch boots - just yesterday afterall I had worn them all day for class so I felt like walking down Broadway would be okay.  Nooope.

It was pretty fucking terrifying.  Uneven sidewalks, large cracks, dimpled concrete.. all potentially deadly obstacles!!  These boots are perfectly comfortable on even surfaces - I usually wear them at work for six hours - but the second they hit sidewalks they're a completely different animal.  I didn't trip or fall, but my legs were exhausted when I made it back and --- !!!! --- the heel on one of the boots was starting to tear off from the shoe's upper.  My heart sank when I noticed.  These are my babies!

Also, let me clarify my other stripper boots (see last photo) are only 1.25" shorter than the ones I wore today but are perfectly fine to walk around outside in.  The giant platform on the eight inchers makes them much less friendly.  People always equate platforms with comfort, but big platforms are generally very unstable.

***PS While walking to a bodega inbetween classes a six year old girl complimented my shoes.  Made my day.

TW1N FL4M3$

Spent my entire weekend in a computer lab doing flats in illustrator.  On the bright side, I had plenty of time to listen to the Klaxons, Cut Copy, Crystal Castles, Robyn and Lifelike remixes.

"Androgynous Pratt student documents his outfits that run the gamut from everyday college kid to flamboyant club kid. Anyone who throws on a pair of Balenciaga platforms or 9" fetish stilettos to cheer himself up is pretty awesome and entertaining in our opinion!"

TOPSHOP INSIDE-OUT BLOG
"Dressing up is what William loves to do most. This young designer from New York doesn’t dress for fashion but just to have fun and enjoy himself like the big kid that he is. Both adorned as a man and woman, his blog isn’t your common “check-out-my-outfit” type blog. It’s a journey into NYC’s crazy nightlife with party outfits straight from the young creative/transvestite scene. Juggling Timberland homemade platforms, tie-dye t-shirts, camo baggy trousers and an orange furry jacket, his looks are absolutely bonkers-awesom, leaving us wanting more everytime. We strongly recommend that you check out his collection too . Made from Japanese anime babe-printed fabric, it’s pretty darn cool."

LYNN & HORST
"I strongly believe in the comeback of Manga and will further explore its use in contemporary art and fashion. Most probably, 'sexualization' will become a core motif. In the first instance, I'd like to draw your attention to the reanimation of Anime by Dripping Lazers."
