PERFECTO OBSESSION

Today I got my hands on a little spare cash and immediately went shopping.  Whenever I go vintage shopping (pretty much the only kind of shopping I do) I always check out the leather jackets first, and today I found one almost identical to one I already own.. so of course I had to buy it.  I won't be able to wear it until the summer is over, but now I can rest easy knowing that when I want to stud my old one, I have another just like it that will remain untouched.  I also nabbed a few printed silk shirts that are lightweight enough to make layering feasible in hot weather.

Somehow this collection eluded me earlier this year.  I fell in love the second I saw some of the pieces on Six Six Sick.  To me, what defines a great designer is the depth shown in their work.  Here Koma references polka dots with fox fur pom poms, perforated fabric overlays, art prints with dots, body contouring dots (in varying sizes, colors, and textures), and curved seaming.  Absolutely brilliant.

SILENT RITUAL

Finally got around to wearing this chiffon kimono I made recently.  It's so delicate and unlike anything else in my closet, I really had no idea what to wear with it at first.  The bag is from the sample sale at Helmut Lang & Theysken's Theory.  I tried on a ton of clothing and, of course, the amaaazing Theysken's Theory wedges (going for $150!!!), but I only had enough money to get one thing so I went with the bag.  It immediately reminded me of Alexander Wang's Brenda bag, but the boobie pods give it an evil alien feel (think H R Giger) that's completely irresistible.

GIMME GIMME GIMME

There's some past season Jeremy Scott pieces for sale online at the Cobra $hop - including the *super dreamy* money print bomber from F/W 08.  So nouveau riche/bourgeois trash.  Love.

Finding this spandex was love at first sight.  I wound up making this bodysuit for a class this past semester, and so far I've worn it twice - once to a party and once to work with a large tank top and the matching mesh cardigan (see it HERE) layered on top.  There's some newsprint spandex and some lemon/lime leopard spandex I'm itching to make into something, too, but I don't know when I'm going to have the time..

PS the last image is a mood board I created when I used this spandex for a swimwear project last year.
PPS yes I would die for anything from Jeremy Scott's F/W 08 Opulence collection

I started a new job this past weekend, and I'm sure someone can guess where from the photos.  I wore my eight inch pleaser boots today which had been broken already (just the one side), but got a little worse.  They're still fine to walk in - and it's always been a rule to never walk around outside in them anyway (I always bring converse along with me).

MUDDY COLORS

Though this Helmut Lang cowl top is one of the most visually stunning garments I own, I hadn't worn it until earlier this week.  Normally when I buy something I wear it immediately and repeatedly, but this is one of those things I love, but struggle to wear.  I knew the moment I picked it up I wouldn't wear it much, but sample sale prices and beautiful prints are hard to walk away from.  (You can see the other Helmut Lang top I got at that sample sale HERE.)  Well, I wore it to an interview and got the job so I suppose I got my money's worth.  And I know I will be wearing it more this summer, I'm not too keen on the idea of stepping outside wearing black right now..

"Androgynous Pratt student documents his outfits that run the gamut from everyday college kid to flamboyant club kid. Anyone who throws on a pair of Balenciaga platforms or 9" fetish stilettos to cheer himself up is pretty awesome and entertaining in our opinion!"

TOPSHOP INSIDE-OUT BLOG
"Dressing up is what William loves to do most. This young designer from New York doesn’t dress for fashion but just to have fun and enjoy himself like the big kid that he is. Both adorned as a man and woman, his blog isn’t your common “check-out-my-outfit” type blog. It’s a journey into NYC’s crazy nightlife with party outfits straight from the young creative/transvestite scene. Juggling Timberland homemade platforms, tie-dye t-shirts, camo baggy trousers and an orange furry jacket, his looks are absolutely bonkers-awesom, leaving us wanting more everytime. We strongly recommend that you check out his collection too . Made from Japanese anime babe-printed fabric, it’s pretty darn cool."

"I strongly believe in the comeback of Manga and will further explore its use in contemporary art and fashion. Most probably, 'sexualization' will become a core motif. In the first instance, I'd like to draw your attention to the reanimation of Anime by Dripping Lazers."
