You might have seen these before, but I wanted to make a post just for them.  These were the shoes I bought for my senior collection (which in the end I didn't really need).  The blue glitter sandals were originally black and white and the pink ones were originally red.  I thought I would save money if I bought shoes in the wrong color and covered them in glitter.  Well, it turned out to be more expensive and time consuming than I had imagined.  If you have masochistic tendencies and want to try this out for yourself you'll need spray adhesive, glitter, acrylic topcoat (absolutely essential - a thick layer of this will seal the glitter), and maybe acrylic paint pens if you're working on a shoe with an exposed innersole like on a sandal or slingback.  Pumps are definitely the easiest option.  Lastly, add some trashy printed tights to complete your trailer park cougar look - or to cover your leg hair!

Oh, and one of the models at my final crit was wearing the clear/flower sandals and totally busted her ass in them.  The heel slipped underneath her while she was walking and she flew down onto the ground into a spread eagle and the dress of mine she was wearing rode up above her hips.  It was mortifying (about thirty people were staring) but admittedly humorous.

I'm moving into my brother's apartment in Washington Heights for a few months later this week and consequently 90% of my belongings are going into storage.  I did the same thing last summer, but it only lasted a few weeks while I looked for an apartment.  This time around I really don't know what I'm going to do with myself!  These photos were taken on my roof.. they'll have to serve as my farewell to Brooklyn.

I mentioned earlier that last week Anna Schilling wore some of my clothing to the Cnnctd+ launch event at the New Museum.  I had trouble finding photos, but thankfully she was kind enough to send these two!

I shot my senior collection and brought all of the clothing back to my apartment on Sunday.. so obviously this biznezz needed to happen.  Last week I also lent a look to Anna Schilling, a model I met at my senior show, which she wore to an event, but unfortunately all the photos are on those media sites where you can only see little thumbnails unless you have an account that lets you see an absurdly watermarked preview ..or you have to shell out $10-$20 for a single photo.  Damn.

faux fur jackets made by me, vintage shirt and tank, zara jeans, Homemade Speed collars

I took these monday night before running out to catch the drag race finale/reunion at a bar --- and just now realized the Macaulyness of it.  He pretty much trademarked squatting in platform sneakers with a cig.  Oops.  I must say though.. I would not squat in hot shorts in front of Terry Richardson.  Nooooo way.

Some things to cover from last week...

The senior show was Thursday.  I had one look on display on a mannequin in the "vip cocktail reception" in which people seemed more concerned with the prosecco and than the mannequins around them.  Oh well!  The look I showed at the reception was predetermined for me - the faux fur was deemed gauche, and the head to toe print look was, according to most, the only successful look I made.  As I mentioned earlier, Liz wore a dress and jacket I made at the show.  She looked reeeeally good.

Over the weekend there was a presentation of work by students cut from the show at school - mostly parents attending, but it was fun to set everything up anyway.  I will hopefully be doing a photoshoot for the collection soon, as well.  More photos of my work HERE.

"Androgynous Pratt student documents his outfits that run the gamut from everyday college kid to flamboyant club kid. Anyone who throws on a pair of Balenciaga platforms or 9" fetish stilettos to cheer himself up is pretty awesome and entertaining in our opinion!"

TOPSHOP INSIDE-OUT BLOG
"Dressing up is what William loves to do most. This young designer from New York doesn’t dress for fashion but just to have fun and enjoy himself like the big kid that he is. Both adorned as a man and woman, his blog isn’t your common “check-out-my-outfit” type blog. It’s a journey into NYC’s crazy nightlife with party outfits straight from the young creative/transvestite scene. Juggling Timberland homemade platforms, tie-dye t-shirts, camo baggy trousers and an orange furry jacket, his looks are absolutely bonkers-awesom, leaving us wanting more everytime. We strongly recommend that you check out his collection too . Made from Japanese anime babe-printed fabric, it’s pretty darn cool."

LYNN & HORST
"I strongly believe in the comeback of Manga and will further explore its use in contemporary art and fashion. Most probably, 'sexualization' will become a core motif. In the first instance, I'd like to draw your attention to the reanimation of Anime by Dripping Lazers."
